Creating a simple and neutral Fall Mantle-Fall Home Series

September 22, 2017 Lindsey

Welcome friends!  It's week two of our Fall Home Series and this week is all about fall mantles and shelves.  I've joined forces with 6 other bloggers to bring you some amazing fall inspiration. :)  I love how these ladies all think outside of the box with their designs, one thing they do all have in common is how cozy and welcoming their homes feel. First up is yours truly, I like to keep my mantle pretty simple.  I typically add just a few fall elements to my mantle and call it good.  You see sometimes less really is more, and in this case I believe it to be true.

I wanted to keep the color palette very neutral so I stuck to whites, creams, pale blue and green.  Problem was there were no real pumpkins out yet so I decided to paint these faux pumpkins that I found at Michaels.  I used my Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint, the colors I used were Bauhaus Buff and Linen mixed together for the white and Credenza for this bluish green color.  I really love how these turned out and my kiddos enjoyed helping mama paint. :)  Win, win!!

The greenery is a faux lambs ear that I found at Michaels as well.  I actually grow the real plant in my garden and let me tell ya, this faux version looks so real!  The faux wooden flowers I found at Homegoods and I absolutely love decorating with these.  I'm always saying to add something from the outdoors to your decor to give it texture and life.  The wood accent does just that and gives a pop of warm color against the bright white mantle.  And of course we can't forget the addition of cotton stems!  Talk about instant cozy, these are a fall staple for me.

One of my first pieces of decorating advice I received when I started styling homes was to use "lifts and levels".  Using these old books is the perfect way to do that.  I love the way it makes a mantle look relaxed and inviting.  You can also use boxes or pedestals to achieve this look.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and visit, join us next week to see some more fall inspiration.  Be sure to go check out the other talented ladies below, so much fall goodness! :)  Till next time....happy decorating my friends!

Lindsey :)
